As the seventieth birthday of television passes in Australia, there are dozens of American stations about to look forward to eightieth birthdays in the next two years.
Tonight, you'll be seeing a survey from just one of them.
Welcome to the second part of Game 2, of the Content Survey Live World Championships. Last night, was a news snapshot on a significant occasion for the Australian industry: tonight, is all about Boston on a regular night.
Brisbane's Wednesday night news, delivered a slightly lower result than Monday on the bulletin itself but yet a slightly higher sports result: with a score of 6.5/10, with a David Hill Number of 5.
Boston needs to better 6.5/10 at minimum, to have a chance at winning Game 2 tonight, and setting us up for a likely season finale on Friday night.

Now, let's get onto the ground rules.
We now must remind you (and in the case of Brisbane: explain) the ground rules for the 2026 Content Survey Live season.
THE GROUND RULES
Our focus, in Content Survey Live will be monitoring multiple news services over a significant timespan (a benefit of technological change, now allowing us to watch American news bulletins here in Australia), using the a slight modification of the same criteria we used in the “Great Local News Study” from Kuttsy's Pitch XI in August, 2019 and in Content Survey Live between 2020 and 2024.
-Locally sourced stories: that is stories reported by local journos. Really big local market stories with national impacts, also fit here. Voiced over local stories are counted separately.
-Live crosses: stuff that is used to embellish a story.
-Weather and traffic reports are not counted.
-Sport stories are counted for one point if it’s a voiced over piece: but… if you have a reporter on the scene reporting on the event, it counts for two points. This sports reporting scoring system is a modified version of the “Ray Robinson Number” from the 2024 special event, and the 2025 edition of Content Survey Live, which was utilized to examine overnight news, and will be counted up at the end of the regular season as a special secondary achievement going to the market who has the highest sports score.
This number, is known as the David Hill Number: in commemoration of the role Hill played in revolutionizing sports coverage in Australia (as VP for sport for Nine in the mid eighties), the United Kingdom (launching UK cable powerhouse Sky Sports) and in the US (the founding father of Fox Sports, whose innovations reshaped NFL and other sport coverage for the better).
In addition, all scores in 2026 will be reported in a new format: a ranking out of 10: David Hill Number (e.g. 5.8/10 and a David Hill Number of 3) rather than separating these figures out.
Now let’s look at the Boston contribution to Game 2.
We kick off tonight's bulletin with the growing Macklemore story (has had airplay in Australia too!), and a near hit and run in Franklin of a student waiting for a school bus (that thankfully had dash cam), voiced over pieces on a hit and run at Holbrook, a preview of the 60 Minutes interview with the Clancy widower next Sunday US time, a murder arrest in Salem, a trial concerning a accident at a Apple Store in Hingham is given the chance to go ahead in January next year, a piece on the LA news chopper accident investigation kicking off, a hate crime in Manchester New Hampshire, Springfield school closure attributed to hackers, the refurbishment of the Citgo sign in downtown, a pet rescue from a fire at Westport and a Methuen school considering a on-campus e-bike ban, with the bulletin closing with a callout concerning a ring found in a bag at Kohl's.
We now go into sport, again going with a Patriots spin (gotta get that cost from the Foxboro trip somehow) with both quarterback and defense press conferences, some flashback footage from two decades ago of Patriots V Packers, a wrap of Red Sox road game in Dallas, the first NBA press conference for the season for the Bruins, and closing with a This is Sportscenter style moment where the mascots of New England... turn up with the anchor... (2pts for the David Hill Number)
Overall, Boston again playing like it's got a championship to win, leaving Brisbane to be seen as just doing the motions.

In Brisbane it's finals time in league (Dolphins a week away from a home prelim) and AFL (Lions aiming to match the 00's side's feat of four straight grand finals this weekend). In Boston, it's eyes toward Sunday's home Patriots opener at Foxboro and has been so all week. But will it be the end of the game... or will we go all the way?
