In
2023, Content Survey Live… goes tribal.
Are you ready… to celebrate ten years of counting content?
Welcome to the second annual KWNetwork Select, a Boxing Day tradition: akin to bargain sales, test cricket at the MCG and the Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race.
What we announced off the bat: is a significant change to 2023’s Content Survey Live: this change, is being made due to the increased unreliability of ratings figures accessibility for 10’s news.
But: it also comes with evolution. In 2023, Content Survey Live: will be a month long event, structured more along the lines of a football league’s finals series: a modified final five system, where ultimately, one city has to go up against the might of Perth: the undisputed three-time champion of Content Survey Live… after they have undergone the most gruelling survey process we’ve ever done.
How each week will work: There will only be two surveys a week: with a twist: only two markets will be surveyed twice in a week, but the market that ultimately faces Perth: will have been surveyed six times overall. How the specifics of “Content Survey Live: The Call of The Tribe” will work, will be unveiled, when Night Zero returns for the third year running, on June 19, 2023.
This event, will mark our tenth anniversary of counting content: which started in 2014:
Content Survey Live: The Call of The Tribe, begins, Monday July 31, 2023.
Whose tribe are you on?
Nine posts so far revealed for 2023: or will it be seventeen? You’ll find out next year.
Veritas on KW's New Dawn:
On January 15, 2023: we will be making a significant change to the content of the Veritas on KW account on Twitter, one that will simply let us feel the rhythm.
The rhythm that is going to signal the “New Dawn” for Veritas on KW, is simply this that there will now be radio coverage in addition to our successful television work.
The Veritas on KW new dawn, will include a update to our look, similar to what One Queensland got in October: something we teased on October 1.
However, there is also significant work going on all the time to ensure that the future of the Veritas revival doesn’t end… if Twitter does.
And, now let’s present the first of the final five of our fifteen for fifteen initiatives for our fifteenth birthday.
15 for 15: #11 Lost Extra has a live date… and a surprise.
The response to the Lost Extra announcement on October 1, has been remarkable. It is only fitting, that on Boxing Day, we reveal the start-up date of the Lost Extra social media project.
Lost Extra kicks off… Feburary 10, 2023: on Facebook initially, and launching elsewhere as expansion circumstances dictate. Lost Extra, is designed to be our first multi-site social media brand and we once again hope, that Nine ends up joining the journey with us: because Lost Extra is about celebrating what made Brisbane Extra great in the first place, and such a celebration can only happen to it’s fullest, if Nine “joins the party” so to speak.
One Queensland in 2023:
Currently, our social-media use of One Queensland is under a pause, but it doesn’t mean the brand is dead: in fact, it is alive and well (especially with significant upgrades set to be announced coming our way in 2023 that signals a evolution).
We must be doing something right, as this year’s One Queensland post (tied to a drive to encourage electoral enrolment in our youth) has become, in less than two months this site’s #1 post for 2022. It’s nearest competition (the Lexicon News 2 finale in Feburary): took eight months to build similar numbers.
Today, we reveal a significant announcement concerning the One Queensland series of posts on Kuttsywood’s Couch, that will build on the success of 2028: Queensland’s Year of Flight.
In 2023, there will not just be one One Queensland-branded post on this site: There instead, will be two: one planned for May-June, and one planned for the late October slot we have owned so well for the last two years (and have ramped up with the Youth Enrolment Drive this year, which will be back next year).
The theme underlying both the May/June post and the late October post next year, will be transport: in particular if government restrictions on how bus contract areas are operated are heavily altered.
The May/June post, will be about a regional QLD market.
The October post, will be all about SEQ: if it operated as a single contract area.
15 for 15: #12: One Queensland… on Facebook?
We will also be launching some time in 2023, a brand new Facebook presence that will be designed to stimulate conversation in Queensland.
“One Queensland: Queensland’s Voice” will be a Facebook group, with the power to influence conversation on the One Queensland Twitter and future social media presences as well as being the test market for future posts.
It is planned to be a extension of our efforts to promote a better conversation concerning Queensland politics, and a major tool going forward: our own farm system for ideas, and ultimately be the network that the big players turn to… rather than ringing the editor at Bowen Hills for policy ideas… something both major parties are just as guilty of doing as each other.
Now, it is time to get into the meat and three veg of today’s KWNetwork Select: the three visions for our site, that mostly need to be achieved by the time of the Queensland bicentennial in September 2024. They are also our final three of the 15 for 15 initiatives.
15 for 15: #13: Audio with Audacity.
We are intending to launch a vision for a podcast family, sometime in 2023. This move is designed to bring us into a third sphere of influence, and bring in some ideas that have been long mooted but never acted on.
Ideas include:
-Lost Extra: The Podcast.
-The Tribal Cry: (weekly audio wrap for Content Survey Live next year)
-One Queensland Live: (fortnightly podcast likely launching late 2023 leading up to 2024 QLD election)
-That One Article…: (Podcast based on news articles and famous faces: the dream is to have a live podcast recording at Bunnings Rocklea on 20th anniversary of infamous citizenship ceremony.)
The podcast plan, will be kicked off, by August next year.
15 for 15: #14: The long term vision for Veritas and One Queensland.
Our long term vision for the two social media brands established in 2021, is one that is defined by two key planks that will eventually supplant Twitter as our premium product on social media and as well a vision that will be that transitions both from social media brands, to mastheads for their own destiny.
Our first plank, is one that will cost little to no money to work with.
In early 2023, we will be launching a KWNetwork presence over on Discord (most likely tied in with either the Lost Extra launch in February or the Veritas on KW "New Dawn" in mid January), we are currently trying it privately before attempting a full launch: if you want to be on-board first slide into our DM's and we may hook you up with a preview feed invite*) with initial text chat channels including:

-#VeritasOnKW (Television talk)
-#VeritasOnKW_Radio (Radio talk)
-#OneQLDKW (general Queensland talk, travel tips)
-#OneQLDKW_qldpol (Queensland parliament, political news)
In addition, there will be two special event text chat channels:
-#VeritasOnKW_Events (Logies, Upfronts, ACRA’s)
-#OneQLDKW_Events (Severe weather coverage, 2024 QLD election coverage)
All up, we will be eventually managing nine feeds on Discord, once we are in full gear. But, we have a bigger vision in mind.
The second plank of the long term social media vision will indeed cost money, to keep operating.
This second plank, will be to invest in our own Mastodon instance (tailored to have three profiles per email address) that will deliver a opportunity for not just the Veritas/One Queensland paradigm to evolve: but for others to come onboard.

The ultimate vision for the Mastodon presence on the kwNetwork end will be:
VeritasOnKW (hybrid feed)
VeritasOnKW_USA (American TV-specific feed)
VeritasOnKW_Radio (radio-specific feed)
One Queensland (hybrid feed)
One Queensland_Green (Queensland Parliament/elections-specific feed)
One Queensland_Red (Travel and Events (effectively a hybrid of two of the three Discord channels)
Lost Extra (Lost Extra FB feed simulcast)
Kuttsywood’s Couch (Official feed for website)
Personal account (likely retaining the LYBASkw name: which has already been secured on another Mastodon instance, and will be set to relocate when the time is right.)
Initially, however: Veritas on KW/Veritas On KW Radio, One Queensland/One Queensland Green and Kuttsywood’s Couch/LYBASkw will be available.
The rest of the space, can be “leased” out to others (inc. websites like TV Blackbox) in exchange for contributions toward server upkeep and expansion and bringing on knowhow to tweak the system to perform for us, and users well into the future.
Our preference for hosting such a product: will be somewhere in Queensland, and the infrastructure most likely serviced by Queenslanders.
Cue the jingoistic advert.
Care of the Queensland State Archives Youtube account.

With this strategy, we aim to ultimately diversify two accounts on one platform: into over 20 different feeds across four platforms.
Facebook, Mastodon, Discord and Twitter is where we will hang our hats when we ultimately evolve.
Our future on social media, is fluid and is also dynamic.
Facebook, Mastodon, Discord and Twitter is where we will hang our hats when we ultimately evolve.
Our future on social media, is fluid and is also dynamic.
We call this long term vision: kwNetworkOne.
Our social media vision has been at a crossroads since this time in 2021: long before we teased a "Lost Extra" in Lexicon News 2. Early concepts of this strategy included the possibility of a third Twitter feed (at first likely to have been focused on radio only, then looking like a Lost Extra simulcast) before we decided on the model going forward: of a smartened up One Queensland, and Veritas on KW entering radio talk in addition to television.
As part of this process, our Facebook presence, as of today joins the kwNetwork family, and will adopt a posting strategy similar to the Veritas on KW account on Twitter/#VoKW hashtag on Mastodon: that is, more updates in 2023, than the account's had in it's entire history.
In addition: our T.E.A.A. tiles that we launched on One Queensland/LYBASkw earlier this year, are adopting a new name: kwN1 (short for kwNetworkOne) Tiles.
kwN1 Tiles will be in full use, on all three Twitter presences early next year, and eventually they will appear on Mastodon once our dedicated instance launches.
We hope to ultimately deliver the ultimate vision (particularly the Mastodon side, as it will involve money toward upkeep of servers, domain names and the like) within two to three years.

And, that’s just social media.
In that same timeframe as kwNetworkOne’s development, we also have a vision for a dynamic future for One Queensland, and Veritas on KW, that evolves both, from social media brands to mastheads equal to Kuttsywood’s Couch.
In 2022’s fading light, I see both brands as social media pages, by the end of 2025: I see both as either standalone websites or ultimately sites within a site.
To achieve this goal, our longterm views (or goals if you will) for the transition to mastheads for both One Queensland and Veritas on KW are as follows.
VERITAS ON KW:
-Achieve a agreement for OzTAM and RegionalTAM overnight ratings republishing, by the end of 2023, that is secure for the long-haul.
-Develop networks, that bring life to Veritas on KW reporting: that is, no longer tweeting distantly about upfronts, but most likely being on the scene, alongside other outlets.
-Launch the first step toward a Veritas On KW masthead (potentially a weekly newsletter), within eighteen months.
(In addition, some stuff that is already happening: will be securing access to radio ratings releases: a far simpler task than with OzTam/RegionalTAM, in time for Survey 1’s release in 2023, as part of the Veritas on KW content expansion into radio.)
ONE QUEENSLAND:
- Potentially increase travel throughout Queensland (to spread the electoral gospel amongst our youth), encouraged by the possibility to launch a Patreon product for the OneQueensland brand to fund travel.
- Begin planning our 2024 state election coverage throughout 2023, with a eye to have access to live data on the night at easy reach, alongside a event-only channel on Discord.
- Launch, a “One Queensland Live” podcast in late 2023, as a fortnightly product and being the first step towards a One Queensland masthead (likely visioned to be a non-profit news website).
- The One Queensland masthead joining such organizations as the QLD Parliamentary Media Gallery, Federal Parliamentary Press Gallery and the QLD Country Press Association, upon full website launch: likely around three years from now.
DST Guide 2023:
We again continue with the tradition, of announcing our DST Guide date after Christmas: perfect for those with 2023 diaries in their Christmas stocking.
Next year’s DST Guide, will be released on 23/9/23: September 23, 2023, a week out from the start of daylight saving for 2023/24.
15 for 15: #15: Project_KC24.
What we are about to say, is very important.
Our goal in 2023, and well into 2024 will be to raise enough cash (mainly from merchandise sales, and a potential cut of any donations for the Mastodon server) to fund a dynamic shift for the future of this site. I personally believe, we have hit how far we can work, with the current platform we’ve been using since 2008.
The time has come for a shift for a site that has become iconic, and we will be timing this shift (because we are realistic) to come in late 2024, as Queensland’s European settlement bicentenary closes. I intend to do within two years two significant moves to secure the future of this site.
The first significant move will be to move to a dedicated URL for this site by the end of 2024.
The second significant move will be to migrate to Wordpress, again: by the end of 2024.
These two moves cannot happen without a significant amount of cashflow (because when I say I want to make a move: I want to make it with long term clarity, that is securing the hosting and URL for a multiple year agreement: not falling into the trap of hosting being tied to a month by month basis) and, such a move will allow Kuttsywood’s Couch to move toward a new future, one that is no longer tied to 18-20 posts a year on one website and with the creative freedom, and legitimacy of being under our own URL, being hosted somewhere like other websites, instead of being a blog lost in space.
This move will also open the doors for enhancement of the long-term Veritas/OneQLD visions into either their own individual websites or potentially separate sections of a well designed Kuttsywoods Couch website.
A alternate, to moving across the entire archive to Wordpress, will be a relaunch as a standalone website using Wordpress, with the current site becoming a museum archive to what made us great in the first place (but we will also keep a backup of our archive accessible offline, lest Google pulls the plug on Blogger: allowing us to shift the archive to Wordpress).
In addition, we will be working to bring together some of our own archives (stuff we’ve collected and created over the last fifteen to sixteen years (some has been rescued from Youtube hell) into the open: The majority of content we have on Youtube, is available offline, along with a significant goldmine sitting on a hard drive, as well as working our hardest to acquire items for preservation.
Our future, is in your hands. Support our push towards #Project_KC24 by buying merchandise related to the cause, that will be on sale at our Redbubble store from early January. Every cent, we get back from the merchandise sales: will go towards a fund that will ultimately be the source securing our future.
In addition, #Project_KC24 and kwNetworkOne’s Mastodon instance will be designed to be integrated into each other: that is, you will be able to access kwNetworkOne via the #Project_KC24 website, with the potential to utilize your Mastodon login to comment: because KC24 and kwNetworkOne will attempt to blur the lines between social media and a website.
As the first Alan Bond attempt at a Nine year launch promo 35yrs ago states: in this special year, we hope can that we can share a bright (or should we say dynamic) new start. We are ready to take the challenge head on and succeed.
One more thing...
You think that we wouldn’t be getting away from this post without mentioning the kwNetworkshop over at Redbubble.
We have introduced in the days leading to Christmas, all new product lines, based on Lost Extra (our first collection incidentally), and straight after this presentation is uploaded there will be products available concerning next year’s Content Survey Live and our fifteenth birthday. In addition, we will be reworking our tags for our existing line-up in coming months.
Keep your eyes peeled for more surprises in the near future.
The real one more thing: 336 Days To Go.
What fitting way, to exit our fifteenth birthday year next year, but with a return of a series that got spun off from Content Survey Live (after it’s successful 2021 run proved we can do multi-week survey events) earlier this year into it’s own series.
The 2022 edition of this series marked the start of ratings in 2022. The 2023 edition of this series marks the end of a ratings year.
Join us, at the end of November 2023, for Lexicon News: The Third.
Yes, we are wearing our Blackadder influence down our front, and it also means that there will also be only one more series of Lexicon News after The Third is finished in 2023.
Our roadmap for 2023 is unprecedented. The fact this site will have at least one post a month between May and December next year, is a achievement that this site has not fulfilled since our embryonic days in 2009.
And, our roadmap to the future as laid down by our kwNetworkOne social media strategy, as well as our long term multi-masthead strategy (that is, it’s going to be a slow build) which is neatly tied into our Project_KC24 strategy all announced today, is sound.
The time to deliver the hopes of what we have envisioned today is now upon us.
It is now time to turn words into action, and I hope you can join us on the road ahead to make our visions a iron clad reality.
