Content Survey Live: Season Mode: Round 5: Night 3: Are There Actually Strings Attached?

This event has not been sponsored by MIX Adelaide.

Welcome to the penultimate night of Content Survey Live: Season Mode. Melbourne took out the second last fixture of the season, by the slimmest of margins. Tonight, however: is likely the night Adelaide claims the Content Survey Live trophy for 2024.
But first:

Tonight's survey is dedicated to a fallen radio legend: whose career spanned from the middle of the Second World War, to November 2020, whose career achievements are the reason why there is a commercial radio hall of fame in Australia, and why he was a foundation inductee in 2002, whose knack for innovation gave Australian radio new life after television changed the game in the late 1950's, a good guy The Beatles turned to for their Australian tour sixty years ago, and ultimately a magnificent sunset run on 2CH, until the station's move toward a sports format in late 2020.

All of those lines describe just one person: Bob Rogers, who passed away on Wednesday (29/5/2024) at his Sydney home, at the age of 97.

Our condolences go out to his family at this time.

Now, let's have a look at the ground rules.

The Ground Rules:

Our focus, in Content Survey Live will be monitoring Ten’s five capital city news services (a benefit of technological change, now allowing us to watch interstate bulletins on delay), using the same criteria we used in the “Great Local News Study” from Kuttsy's Pitch XI in August, 2019.

-Locally sourced stories: that is stories reported by local journos. Really big local market stories with national impacts, also fit here. Voiced over local stories are counted separately.
-Live crosses: stuff that is used to embellish a story.
-Weather is not counted.
-Sport is not counted if it’s done by obviously freelance journos, or voiced over pieces: you gotta have dedicated reporters there, with their mug on air reporting a sports story for it to count.

-And finally: Some special rules will apply to certain events, e.g. Monday Night's "Hometown Rule" (where the city listed first, is obliged to be surveyed first), Brisbane's GC content count etc.

This week, the city observing a bye: is Sydney (effectively ending their season last Thursday night, becoming the first city to get a total score for their entire season)

THE TALE OF THE TAPE:
Adelaide right now, is one win away from a perfect season. After beating Melbourne last Monday night, Adelaide also has one hand on the Content Survey Live trophy for this year. How easy the job may be of winning it all depends however, on Brisbane's performance tomorrow night.

We open tonight's news with a live cross concerning the disturbance of some grave areas related to the 2016 Hilliar triple murders, followed by full stories on a 5yr old having a fatal asthma attack in Seaton, a dog attack in Pennington, a far more successful robbery of the Torrensville Hotel Royal, although the culprit still got caught: the one in Melbourne that made national news earlier this week and a arson attack at Fullarton.

Two voiced over pieces: first about the appointment of Kochie as SA's new tourism chief, (although in our opinion, Willsy would be a better choice) and a attempted Arndale kidnapping.

However: tonight's sport segment is a landmark: with a live cross to Adelaide Oval for Power/Blues and sports story (Matildas V China tomorrow night) in the 5pm window, as well as another cross at Adelaide Oval, a story on the mid-season draft, a preview for Crows V Hawks at the MCG on Saturday (done by Burford himself, how clever: he's cottoned on quick), a story on the final Matildas training session, and a new recruit for the Adelaide Strikers in the BBL.

Tonight's sports segment wouldn't look out of place in any AFL market, and is easily the best sports coverage Adelaide has produced in some time.

Now, onto the scores:
Four full local stories.
One live cross, and two V/O'd stories concerning general news.
Sport: two live crosses and no less than five local sports stories tonight, for a total of seven.

Last Monday, Adelaide took out the Survey of Origin with a score of 7.45/10.
Tonight: Adelaide scored... 7.25/10.
Overall this season, Adelaide scored: 26.8/40
A significant improvement from 2023, despite some summer-time jitters. Adelaide now has to wait 24 hours, until the champagne corks can be truly popped: Brisbane has a hard job ahead tomorrow to even match the output of what Adelaide pumped out tonight, especially as we come to the talking point of the year in Queensland sports wise... State of Origin.

A Flood Of Memories: 1974 Revisited.
(thanks to some Brisbane Telegraph and Sunday Sun microfiche over at SLQ)
On this day 50 years ago, the big headline of the day happened at 3:15am in the morning, in a quiet suburban street in Lota. 10 bullets were shot into the house, waking the occupants, and a police investigation resulted.

This journey kicked off 101 days ago. Tomorrow, the final countdown on this year's Content Survey Live is about to begin. Brisbane opened this event on Feburary 19. On May 31... it closes the book on the greatest Content Survey Live in it's near five year history.

There will also be some surprising announcements in that post after the winner of both the final fixture of Season Mode and of the entire competition this year is decided.

See you tomorrow. It'll be worth it, I guarantee.
