Content Survey Live: World Championships: Game 3: Part 1. Dolphin Fever On The Rise.

Phins Up... especially, next week... lest we don't get chased after by the NFL.

Welcome to Game 3, of the Content Survey Live World Championships. Let's take a overview of what we've seen so far:

Game 1's results (14th of September):
BRISBANE: 11 (7/10 and David Hill Number of 4)
BOSTON: 15.2 (7.2/10 and David Hill Number of 8)

Game 2's results (16th of September):
BRISBANE: 11.5 (6.5/10, and David Hill Number of 5.)
BOSTON: 14 (7/10, and David Hill Number of 7)

Brisbane's big issue, is that it can match the American challenger, on the quality side (despite being 55mins longer than the compact 35min late night Boston bulletin), but is left cold once the David Hill Number is taken into account.

And it's the David Hill Number, Boston has owned in the first two games of this series.

Tonight, we are at the point where it could be game over... or a waiting game, with two games left in the series at maximum if momentum turns tonight.

But, first: let's go to the ground rules.

We now must remind you (and in the case of Brisbane: explain) the ground rules for the 2026 Content Survey Live season.

THE GROUND RULES
Our focus, in Content Survey Live will be monitoring multiple news services over a significant timespan (a benefit of technological change, now allowing us to watch American news bulletins here in Australia), using the a slight modification of the same criteria we used in the “Great Local News Study” from Kuttsy's Pitch XI in August, 2019 and in Content Survey Live between 2020 and 2024.

-Locally sourced stories: that is stories reported by local journos. Really big local market stories with national impacts, also fit here. Voiced over local stories are counted separately.

-Live crosses: stuff that is used to embellish a story.

-Weather and traffic reports are not counted.

-Sport stories are counted for one point if it’s a voiced over piece: but… if you have a reporter on the scene reporting on the event, it counts for two points. This sports reporting scoring system is a modified version of the “Ray Robinson Number” from the 2024 special event, and the 2025 edition of Content Survey Live, which was utilized to examine overnight news, and will be counted up at the end of the regular season as a special secondary achievement going to the market who has the highest sports score.

This number, is known as the David Hill Number: in commemoration of the role Hill played in revolutionizing sports coverage in Australia (as VP for sport for Nine in the mid eighties), the United Kingdom (launching UK cable powerhouse Sky Sports) and in the US (the founding father of Fox Sports, whose innovations reshaped NFL and other sport coverage for the better).

In addition, all scores in 2026 will be reported in a new format: a ranking out of 10: David Hill Number (e.g. 5.8/10 and a David Hill Number of 3) rather than separating these figures out.

Now let’s take a look at Brisbane's contribution to the third game of this extravaganza.

We open tonight's news with a story on a Warner arrest (that was replayed at six), a committee meeting at parliament in segment 1, a police school holiday blitz, petrol price pain (that was replayed at six) and Tasmanian Devil Mary, enters at last her new exhibit at Paradise Country on the Gold Coast (that was replayed at six) in segments 2 and 3.

Meanwhile live crosses came from a rail union deal (both at bulletin's start and at 6pm, but only counts for one mark due to the similarities between both), the wrapup of Operation Yankee Rumor, a attack at Fortitude Valley station and a shark attack at Perth's Sorrento Beach.

Voiced over pieces included a segment 1 story on the Mackay death deemed non-suspicious, and segment 2 having pieces on a Vulture St raid, Walter Taylor Br closure segueing into ferry strike chaos and a dingo warning for K'gari over school holidays.

The length of the pre-6pm commercial break, was 4 minutes and a single second tonight.

Meanwhile, Sport was consisted of: Lions prelim (rerun at 6), NRL semis/NRL W Prelims (rerun at six without the NRLW), Socceroos presser pre-Brazil friendlies, Davis Cup presser at Tennyson, a Bullets season preview.

Overall, Brisbane trying to squeeze some life into this contest, trying to buy just one more fight with the American competitor.

THE SCORES:
Five full stories.
Four live crosses
Five voiced over pieces
Sports segment, still trying to get over it's duck, with a David Hill Number of 5.

Tonight's score: 6.6/10, David Hill Number of 5, for a total of 11.6.

Boston tomorrow has to beat 11.6, to claim a shutout victory in this inaugural World Championship in Content Survey.

Well, that's it for the first part of Game 3 of the inaugural Content Survey Live World Championships.
Tomorrow night, Boston lines up for it's Game 3 contribution to this game: but will it be a victory lap... or will it be potentially just one to two games away...

See you tomorrow!
